I believe morals come from whatever the current social structure dictates ... which is why different morals exist depending upon when and where you are talking about. That is why primates have moral structures as well - they are socially intelligent.

I believe better morals have come about the more we move away from our child-like archaic phase, Enlightenment, etc. and use more secular, freedom-based principles. Here is one reaction on this topic below. Do you agree with Hawkins?

You don't need religion to have morality, that has always been clear.

You don't need religion to know the difference between right and wrong either.
