Civil War Coat Buttons

Postby Brian » Sun May 02, 2010 11:35 pm

Hi, Everyone.

Does anyone here collect civil war buttons? I just purchased my first one from Ebay. It's a Union infantry button. Cost me just shy of $12. (Yeah, I know... Big spender... ;))

Auction

It's a little encrusted, but hey, what do you want, for that kind of money, right? :)

I don't really collect them, but I do find an occasional one when metal detecting..

Here's some:

Do you know what the "R" is, Mill? I'm familiar with "A" for artillery, "I" for infantry, and "C" for cavalry, but I've never seen an "R" before. :)

I hadn't thought of riflemen. I was kind of lumping them in with infantry. :)

Hi, Everyone.

I received the Civil War infantry button today. Here are the pics I took. (Librtyhead, feel free to resize these if they're too big. I have a hard time judging that on my monitor.)

It's a little crusty, but I like the colors. :)

I like the button. It shows its age, which is a good thing. :thumbleft:
