Good question. Many of the members here have known each other for a while, and we know each others interests and beliefs. But we are always looking for new members with new ideas and new points of view. Already sounds like you hav much to add.

History, Barmaley. Nobody here posts on just one site, each of us knows some of the others from various places over the last five years. This particular grouping of members has one facet, the site's a unique combination but many of the users overlap across time and that adds considerable depth to the exchanges. It's like knowing different groups of drinkers in different bars across town, each with their own peculiar staff and brews.

May I ask you guys to name 2 or 3 your favorite threads? The ones which can help me to get the spirit of this place. And one more: what is a proportion of atheists/religious people?

I've found that I prefer smaller forums anyway, they don't usually seem to be filled with a lot of chaff that needs to be waded through.

My favorite thread would obviously be "Funny Animal Videos" ;)

I doubt whether you'd find anyone here who could make even a fair guess, you'd need to count one by one. I'm a Methodist.

viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1692&start=0 is quite definitely my favorite thread. Sadly it's not anyone else's so perhaps that's not much help to you.

On Wednesday and Thursday this forum was alive and active with a very lovely discussion on progression. Now it is slow. Is it usually like today or like last week?

The weekend tends to slow down a bit. Especially when the weather is nice. Hopefully it will pick up.

Marie's right. It slows down a lot when the weather's nice -- especially during the summer. It should pick up during the week, though. :)
